Physiotherapy, with an osteopathic approach.

A physiotherapist who is also an osteopath. We begin with an assessment, apply manual treatment techniques and advise you on your best recovery strategies, including teaching you how to best do your own personalized exercise prescription. Your therapist stays with you for the whole session.

What it is

Restoring movement, hands first.

Physiotherapy aims to restore the normal function of muscles, joints and nerves, after an injury or major stress.

Concretely, we work on range of motion, strength, flexibility and the small movement of each joint. Through passive, assisted or resisted mobilizations, then through exercises prescribed and taught so the work continues at home.

The osteo approach changes one important thing: it makes it possible to quickly spot when a problem comes from another system of the body, and to adjust, through palpation, the choice, alignment and execution of your exercises.

At Vitalida we choose hands-on techniques over machines. Heat or cold can be used as instructed, at home, when needed.

How it works

First understand, then treat.

  1. Before

    You book

Online on GOrendezvous, or by phone at 514 805-3516. The first session is an initial assessment.

  2. During

    We assess, then we treat

A detailed questionnaire on your history: we look for where the problem comes from, not just where it hurts. Then the treatment, mostly hands-on, for one hour in a private room.

  3. After

    The work continues at home

You leave with your exercises, learned on site. Frequency varies; with us, it's usually one session a week. When needed, we work with other professionals at the NDG Health Clinic or elsewhere.

Questions

What we're asked before booking.

Should I see a physiotherapist or an osteopath?

With us, you don't have to choose. Alida is both, and the session brings the two approaches together depending on what you need.

How long is a session?

One hour, in a private room. Frequency depends on your situation; with us, it's usually once a week initially, and then we space it out.

Will my insurance reimburse me?

We issue receipts for your insurance: Alida is a member of the Ordre professionnel de la physiothérapie du Québec. Check with your insurer what your plan covers.

Do you accept SAAQ and CNESST?

SAAQ, yes, like private clients. Our clinic is not set up for CNESST files.

Will I have exercises to do?

Often, yes. They are prescribed and taught during the session, so you can continue the work at home.

In which language?

In French, English or Spanish.

Our treatments complement your health care, they do not replace it. If you are being followed for a medical condition, keep that follow-up going and talk to your doctor.
